- In case you have thick shanks. It is a great idea to choose buckles, springy insertions, springy leather or fabric, strings for excessive give. Avoid pull-on shapes that are hard to get into, boots which end at the most wide part of the calf muscle. Think of wearing them with tights or leggings in a corresponding color scheme to create a long, lean line.
